irises, etc?

does anyone have any irises or small perennials they want to share? today we drove by a random house and my husband david said "hey! what is that flower? i like that!" (they were irises) im also lacking some low/small/short perennials for my mostly shaded front area. any ideas or plants?

watch freecycle & craigslist...

for instance, there's a post on CL today: a neighbor took out a fence and was going to trash the plants, the poster is looking for someone to take the plants and save them

btw, hostas & ferns do well for us in the shade... and some annuals like impatiens

hey girl,

i have irises i can share with you once they are done blooming (which is right now), if you guys like them. i need to thin them out. check them out next week during homegroup and let me know what you think.

i have a really pretty plant (that's for shade) that has nice green leaves and a little pink flower, but for the life of me i can't remember what it's called. if i can think of it i'll let you know.

I have sweet woodruff for you...and plenty of it. It grows in shade or in part sun (it adapts really well). It will not grow in full sun. It is one of my favorite plants in my shade garden. It will spread rapidly, but is super easy to control and maintain. Let me know if you want to try any.

bethany - i have hostas and the ferns just wouldn't seem to fit very well there but impatiens would be great

karen - will do!

jude- how tall is sweet woodruff?

The sweet woodruff can get about 3 inches tall. I have a whole garden full if you would like to come and see. In the spring, it gets really pretty white flowers on them. You can cook with it in moderation, but if you use too much...well, just say you would be revisiting the 70's.
